Video frame rate converter

Drop a video and pick a new frame rate: 60 to 30 fps, or 24, 25, 48 or 50 fps. The tool shows what the change does to the frames, then writes a new MP4. It runs in your browser, so the video never leaves your device.

Drop a video to change its frame rate

It stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

How to change the frame rate of a video

  1. Add your video

Drop a video in the box above, or choose the file. The tool reads its frame rate.

  2. Pick the new frame rate

The tool offers the common rates below your video's rate. For a video below 30 fps, it also offers the lowest rate Instagram or TikTok asks for. A rate that divides evenly, such as 60 to 30, keeps an even pace. Other steps drop frames unevenly, and the tool says so.

  3. Convert and download

Press Convert. The tool writes a new MP4 with H.264 video, keeps the sound, reads the frame rate of the new file and shows it. Play it to check it, then download it.

Frequently asked questions

Is my video uploaded?

No. The converter reads and writes the video in your browser. Nothing is sent to Vidova or anywhere else.

Should I post at 30 or 60 fps?

Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts take up to 60 fps. YouTube Help asks you to upload at the frame rate you filmed at. 60 fps helps fast motion such as sport and gameplay. A talking head looks the same at 30 fps in a smaller file. Change the rate when an app or a person asks for one.

Can it make a video 60 fps?

No. A browser can only reach a higher rate by showing each frame more than once. That adds file size and no new motion, so the tool does not offer it. For new frames made between the real ones, use AI slow motion, which slows the video down with new frames.

Why does it offer 30 fps for a 24 fps video?

Instagram Help says Reels should have a frame rate of at least 30 fps, and TikTok's developer docs give at least 23 fps. For a video below those rates, the tool offers the lowest common rate that meets them. It repeats frames to get there, so the motion looks the same as before.

Why does 60 to 25 fps stutter?

60 does not divide by 25, so the tool keeps frames at uneven steps to stay in time. In fast motion and pans you can see the uneven steps. 60 to 30 keeps one frame in every two, so the pace stays even.

Does a lower frame rate make the file smaller?

Not by much. The tool writes the new video at no more than the bitrate of your video, so each frame it keeps gets more detail and the file stays about the same size. To make the file smaller, use the video compressor.

Does it change the length or the sound?

No. The video plays at the same speed and keeps its length and its sound. Only the number of pictures each second changes.
