The short answer

OpusClip is built for one job: it turns a long video into many short, captioned clips and helps you schedule them. Vidova is a full editor run by an AI agent. It can cut clips from a podcast too, but it also builds edits from scratch, generates images, video and music in the project, and its MCP server can generate media as well as edit. Choose OpusClip for high-volume clipping. Choose Vidova for edits that you want to direct.

Clipping or editing

OpusClip reads a long video, finds the moments most likely to work as shorts, and adds captions, reframing and B-roll. You get many clips fast, each with a virality score.

Vidova starts from what you ask for. You can ask for three vertical clips with captions from a podcast. You can also ask for a trailer, a recap set to music, or a product video with titles and a logo intro. The agent edits a real timeline, so you can change any cut afterwards.

Editing from Claude

Both products have a hosted MCP server. OpusClip's July 2026 post says its server needs a paid plan, is capped at 15 hours or 900 credits per workspace each month, does not stitch segments and does not generate media. Vidova's server at mcp.vidova.ai/mcp gives your agent tools to edit the timeline, generate media and preview frames.

Frequently asked questions

Is Vidova a good OpusClip alternative?

It depends on the job. To turn many long videos into short clips with little effort, OpusClip is built for that. For edits that you want to direct, or videos that are not clips of a longer recording, Vidova fits better.

Can Vidova make short clips from a podcast?

Yes. Ask the agent, for example, for three vertical clips with captions. It finds the moments, cuts them on the timeline and adds captions that you can style.

Which is cheaper, Vidova or OpusClip?

OpusClip Pro is $29 a month, or $14.50 a month billed yearly, for 300 minutes of source video. Vidova Creator is $19 a month, or $190 a year, with separate allowances for transcription, agent turns, generation and rendering.

Do both work with Claude?

Yes. Both have hosted MCP servers. OpusClip's needs a paid plan and does not generate media. Vidova's works with Claude, Cursor, VS Code and Codex and can generate media.
