AI tools in an editor or an agent that edits
Filmora is a full desktop editor with AI tools added. AI Mate is its chat assistant. In Action mode it splits a request into steps and runs them, for example beat sync, audio cleanup or color grading from a keyword. Filmora says AI Mate is connected to only part of the editor's features, and for other requests it writes steps for you to follow.
AI Idea to Video turns a story idea into generated clips up to 30 seconds long, with music and subtitles, and adds the scenes to the timeline. Most AI tools, including text to speech, speech to text and AI music, spend AI credits. Basic includes none.
Vidova is built around its agent. You describe the edit, and the agent cuts, trims, captions and arranges your clips on a multitrack timeline. It previews frames and runs a quality check before it hands the cut over. You keep, change or undo each edit. People who want to drag every clip by hand will find Filmora's manual tools more mature.
Where Filmora is ahead
- Manual editing depth: keyframes, multi-camera editing, motion and planar tracking, HSL, 3D LUTs and RGB curves.
- A large asset library on paid plans: 18K+ effects and filters, 11K+ transitions, 52K+ titles, 45K+ music tracks and 1.1M+ stock media.
- A low price for manual editing: Basic is $49.99 a year on Windows with 4K export and no watermark.
- A one-time license option, and apps for Android, iOS and iPadOS. Vidova has no Android app and works in the browser there.

Where Vidova is ahead
- One chat request edits the whole timeline, and the agent checks its own work before it hands the cut over.
- It runs in the browser on a computer or a phone, with nothing to install.
- Claude, Cursor, VS Code and Codex can edit your projects through Vidova's MCP server.
- AI video editing changes what a clip shows, such as a new look, new clothes or a new background, and keeps its motion and sound.
- One account works in the browser on Windows, Mac and phones. A Filmora desktop license works on one platform only.
Frequently asked questions
Is Vidova a good Filmora alternative for AI editing?
Yes, if you want an AI agent to do the edit. You describe the video, and Vidova's agent cuts, captions and arranges your clips on a timeline. If you want to edit by hand with keyframes, tracking and a large effects library, Filmora is more complete.
Is Filmora free?
Filmora has a free version with the basic editing features, and its exports carry a watermark. Paid plans start at $49.99 a year on Windows and $69.99 a year on Mac, checked October 2026. You can also start Vidova free, with a watermark, 720p exports and 1-minute projects.
Does Filmora add a watermark?
Yes, on the free version. Filmora's FAQ says watermarks are added to exported files, and every paid plan exports without one. Vidova works the same way: the free plan has a watermark, and paid plans remove it.
Does Filmora have an AI agent?
Filmora has AI Mate, a chat assistant that runs some edits, such as beat sync and audio cleanup, and gives written steps for the rest. Filmora says it is connected to only part of the editor. Vidova's agent edits the whole timeline from a chat request.
Can I use one Filmora license on Windows and Mac?
No. Filmora's FAQ says licenses are platform-specific: a Windows license works only on Windows, and a Mac license only on Mac. A Vidova account works in the browser on any computer and phone.
Which is cheaper, Vidova or Filmora?
For manual editing, Filmora costs less: Basic is $49.99 a year on Windows, but it has no AI credits. Advanced, with 1,000 AI credits a month, is $53.99 a year on Windows. Vidova's paid plans start at $19 a month, include the AI agent, and export up to 4K at 60 fps.
