How to make a GIF from a video

  1. Add your video

Drop a video in the box above, or choose the file. MP4, MOV and WebM videos work in most browsers.

  2. Mark the part

Drag the start and the end handles on the bar. The tool starts with the first five seconds. A GIF can be up to 30 seconds long.

  3. Pick the size

Choose the width and the frame rate. The tool shows the GIF's size in pixels and its number of frames.

  4. Make and download

Press Make GIF. The tool shows the GIF when it is ready, with its file size. Then download it.

Frequently asked questions

Is my video uploaded?

No. The converter reads the video and writes the GIF in your browser. Nothing is sent to Vidova or anywhere else.

How do I make the GIF smaller?

A GIF stores every frame as a picture, so its size grows with the width, the frame rate and the length. Pick a smaller width, a lower frame rate or a shorter part. The tool shows the file size when the GIF is ready.

Why does the GIF look a little grainy?

A GIF frame has at most 256 colours. The tool picks the best 256 for each frame, so smooth gradients such as a sky can show bands.

Does the GIF have sound?

No. GIF files have no sound. The GIF loops without end.

Which files can I use?

Any video your browser can play, up to 2 GB. The tool never makes the GIF wider than the video.
