A beat tracker listens to the music and marks every beat and every bar start. The tempo comes from the steady gaps between the beats.

Frequently asked questions
Is the BPM detector free?
Yes. Without signing in you can check 5 files a day, each up to 60 seconds long. With a Vidova account, a file can be up to 30 minutes long and uses the credits of your plan.
How is the BPM worked out?
The detector finds the time of every beat. The tempo is 60 divided by the usual gap between two beats, so a short break or a slow intro does not change it. It is shown to a tenth of a beat a minute.
What is in the CSV file?
One line a beat: its number, its time in seconds, its bar, its place in the bar and whether it starts the bar.
What is the marker file?
A text file with one label a beat, which Audacity and other sound editors import as a label track. Bar starts are named Bar 1, Bar 2 and so on.
Can I use a video?
Yes. The detector reads the sound of the video. Music with a clear pulse gives the best result. Speech or a quiet recording can have no steady beat.
Is my file uploaded?
Only its sound is, as a mono audio file. The picture of a video stays on your device. A file uploaded without signing in is deleted a day later.
