Frequently asked questions
Is the video to text converter free?
Yes. Without signing in you can convert 5 files a day, each up to 60 seconds long. With a Vidova account, a file can be up to 30 minutes long and uses the credits of your plan.
Is my video uploaded?
Only its sound is. Your browser takes the sound out of the video and uploads it as a small audio file. The picture stays on your device. A file uploaded without signing in is deleted a day later.
Which languages does it understand?
Speech to text finds the language that is spoken and writes the text in that language.
Does it show who speaks?
When it hears more than one voice, the text names them Speaker 1, Speaker 2 and so on, and starts a new paragraph when the voice changes.
Which files can I use?
MP4, MOV and WebM videos and MP3, WAV and M4A sound files work in most browsers. Your browser must be able to play the file.
Can I get subtitles instead?
Yes. The auto subtitle generator makes short timed lines from the same speech and downloads them as an SRT or VTT file.
