Video Editing Basics

Vidova includes powerful built-in editing tools to help you create professional-looking screen recordings. This guide covers all the editing features available.

Trimming Videos

Remove Unwanted Sections

  1. Open your recording in Vidova
  2. Click the Edit button
  3. Use the timeline scrubber to find the section you want to remove
  4. Click and drag to select the unwanted portion
  5. Click Delete or press the Delete key
  6. Click Save to apply changes

Split Clips

To split a video into multiple segments:

  1. Position the playhead where you want to split
  2. Click the Split button (scissors icon)
  3. Your video is now split into two separate clips
  4. You can edit each clip independently

Adding Annotations

Text Overlays

  1. Select the Text tool from the editing toolbar
  2. Click where you want to add text on the video
  3. Type your message
  4. Customize font, size, color, and position
  5. Set the duration the text appears on screen

Arrows and Highlights

  1. Select the Draw tool
  2. Choose from arrows, circles, rectangles, or freehand drawing
  3. Draw on the video to highlight important areas
  4. Adjust color and opacity as needed

Blur and Pixelate

To protect sensitive information:

  1. Select the Blur or Pixelate tool
  2. Draw over the area you want to obscure
  3. Adjust the intensity of the effect
  4. The effect will remain throughout the video

Audio Editing

Adjust Volume Levels

  1. Select the audio track in the timeline
  2. Use the volume slider to increase or decrease audio
  3. You can adjust microphone and system audio separately

Remove Background Noise

  1. Select the audio track
  2. Click Enhance Audio
  3. Enable Noise Reduction
  4. Adjust the sensitivity slider
  5. Preview the changes before applying

Add Background Music

  1. Click Add Audio Track
  2. Select a music file from your computer
  3. Position it on the timeline
  4. Adjust volume to balance with narration

Video Effects

Zoom and Pan

  1. Select the Zoom tool
  2. Click and drag to create a zoom box
  3. Set the zoom level and duration
  4. The camera will smoothly zoom to that area

Speed Control

  1. Select a clip or section
  2. Click Speed from the toolbar
  3. Choose from 0.25x, 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x, 2x, or 4x speed
  4. Apply to the entire clip or specific sections

Transitions

Add smooth transitions between clips:

  1. Select the point between two clips
  2. Choose a transition type (fade, slide, etc.)
  3. Adjust the duration
  4. Preview the effect

Export Options

Video Formats

Vidova supports exporting to multiple formats:

  • MP4 - Best for web sharing and compatibility
  • WebM - Optimized for web browsers
  • MOV - For macOS and professional editing
  • GIF - For short animated clips

Quality Settings

Choose the right quality for your needs:

  • 4K (3840x2160) - Maximum quality, large file size
  • 1080p (1920x1080) - High quality, recommended for most uses
  • 720p (1280x720) - Good quality, smaller file size
  • 480p (854x480) - Lower quality, smallest file size

Compression

  1. Select your export format
  2. Adjust the quality slider
  3. Preview the file size estimate
  4. Click Export when ready

Best Practices

  • Keep it concise: Remove unnecessary pauses and mistakes
  • Add context: Use text overlays to explain complex actions
  • Highlight important areas: Use arrows and highlights to guide attention
  • Test audio levels: Ensure narration is clear and background music isn't overpowering
  • Export appropriately: Choose quality based on where the video will be shared

  • Space: Play/Pause
  • Left/Right Arrow: Move frame by frame
  • Delete: Remove selected clip
