Why follow the cursor at all
A static zoom is enough when the action stays in one dialog. Tutorials often leave that dialog. The pointer moves to a sidebar, then a table, then a toast. A locked punch-in leaves those later clicks near the edge, or off-frame. Cursor follow is how Vidova keeps those clicks readable without asking you to draw every pan by hand.
The four camera styles
Each style is a different answer to the same question: how should the frame treat the pointer while zoomed?
- Steadicam: holds still, then moves once and lands softly. Clicks stay near centre. This is the default for product walkthroughs that should feel composed, not handheld.
- Director: cuts between the areas you click and work in. Use it when a tutorial jumps between a few regions and a smooth drift would take too long.
- Anchor: stays put until the cursor leaves a centre zone, then eases back. Use it on long recordings where constant motion would look nervous.
- Momentum: a continuous weighted drift toward the cursor, pulled onto clicks. Use it when the pointer itself is the story, such as drawing or tracing a path.
Click-follow can start the camera moving before the click. It punches in only when a click would sit outside the current view. Clicks already in frame stay put unless they sit near the edge.
What this is not
Cursor follow is not a second auto-zoom engine. It does not invent zooms from idle motion. It does not replace manual zooms on a region that never received a click. You can still add those by hand. You can turn tracking intensity down. Motion blur is available on the move so the camera does not stutter.
